Murphy's Law + Sharon's Theory= Not THAT Bad right?

There I was sitting alone in my car on the side of the busy freeway at what I could only hope was the bitter end of an absolutely horrific '09 series of unfortunately-diasterous events, people, and circumstances. I will spare you the previous 5.5 months of crap & focus on the past 6 hours.

As I felt the intensity of cars zooming past & did what anyone who has a terrible time tries to do (look forward- pun intended) I couldn't help but think " God, was this really necessary? Couldn't I at least make it to the golf course, finish my 'outlet' run with no knee issues or ipod problems, & then have this happen on my way home in the dark after my endorphins are released? or perhaps really early tomorrow morning on my way to work when my family would be asleep & ignore their phones? Or maybe even on my way home from work to get ready for the traditional 4th of July luau I've missed the past few years that I'd already be late to...but then I realized it's not God doing this to me.. it's that little-horned-red-man who has no sympathy whatsoever, and so I continued, " Satan. You have been really been working overtime since last year when I was on my way to work feeling oh so happy & things were absolutely perfect (I do remember my scholarship being one of those things). Now I missed a whole lotta church part of that year due to working noc on Sats & Sunday shifts, but I was reading my scriptures daily, praying, being a good girl & I recognized the tremendous blessings I was receiving that still I felt weren't completely deserved. Suddenly I thought of the pride cycle & just assumed that things were gonna go kerplunk. So I made an extra special effort to correct what needed fixing & attend regularly. You lost. I didn't miss a single Sunday until May '09 when I puked my guts out that morning & then that, of course according to Murphy's Law, lead to missing every Sunday in June due to this new job. poopy. Anyways last Summer I had hope to work with children but still enjoyed being with the elderly & then was called to be a Primary teacher while I worked as a CNA every Sunday off enjoying the best of both worlds. I was on fire. But oh no you were waiting 'til I was absolutely to the end of my rope to chop it from my grasp & let me fall into the dark hole. That time was today just about. Today was good until late afternoon. I stayed up way too late after Volleyball & my missionary work that didn't work out waiting for my family to arrive. Very tired at a 5 AM I awakened (I think my alarm making Cyrus cry was one of those things that became the ripple effect) & managed to shower & get ready plus got to work on-time YES! Bonded with a coworker, spent some time with my favvy little Mexican woman, day went by fast, & I even felt awesome as a girl after checking my radiator fluid just in case & feeling good about how well I know my baby (Bondo) & then home where I felt ignored (because I was), no one wanted to do anything, couldn't get people to help me look at my car, & just this flood over overwhelming stuff that I've dealt with. I'm pretty sure I suffer from depression ew! but seriously & really it sucks when you feel this way. The worst part is recognizing that you are depressed, that nothing you try is working, & your self-esteem is at an all time low & really knowing you have a problem just makes it suck more and is rather embarrassing. Who wants to hear a girl of all people rant about how their life reeks. All of a sudden just one thing lead to thinking or being reminded of another & soon I was balling again. I thought this is really pathetic... how is it that a girl with so much talent, a great family, smart, & blessed in so many ways can feel so hideous, dumb, start expecting failure, feel so lonely, even when not a day goes by she receives a compliment form someone, everyday at work multiple patients/residents tell her she is the best at this best in this complimenting her eyes, smile, hair, eyebrows?? etc etc. I guess it's just mental sickness. So after not going to have a good time seeing this really sweet guy because I didn't want to have bloodshot eyes or burden him & break down again I finally got composure over myself & invited him to run. He couldn't but I felt strong & I'd run with sunglasses if my eyes were that bad since people tend to look at you while you pass. I felt my lowest... really indescribable and what happens? I make it to the freeway right where you merge onto the 805-N & as soon as I get around that loop CLICK-CLICK-CRACK-POP rumble. I was smart & pulled over emergency lights stat, turned off the car, long blink, frustration, mannit!, put on my tennis shoes, then decided to call Mom. Ironic that I should always joke to my parents if I ever get stranded or in an accident that they'd be getting a call from me first. At least they were here in SD. So this attempt to run I was gonna go on to be my healthy outlet & turn my mood around didn't happen BUT as the ugliest sound that ever came from a car shouted & ghetto jerks persisted people were staring. Man you should've seen their faces. HAHA yes I told my mom This SUCKS! but as soon as I saw their silly faces I couldn't help but think dang it I'm the one riding in a junky-car-mess drawing all the attention getting weird looks. One guy's face was saying why are you driving? that is not driveable... can't you hear that? - cuz i'm too cheap for a tow truck that's why! My mom didn't look amused & in fact she looked so upset that my laughing did not even spark a tiny mouth slant. but Heck it's my car, my money, my unfortunate situation I was gonna laugh if I could.

Sharon's Optimistic Theory...
yes theory IS the correct term because it has been tested... I've been tested & well I'm publishing it.

1. People are flakey, lie way too much to me, ignore me, violate, and are just straight up mean because they know that when things can go wrong they will go wrong & since that is commonly the case with me they are only protecting themselves thus shutting me out of their lives. (p.s my theory may be a bit ridiculous but I'm choosing to cut ya'll some slack & assume the best intentions)

2. Then those who are continuously excusing themselves for being this way but yet do it again minutes later are just compulsive flakers & need help. I should be glad that at least I'm not like this.

3. While examining my knee the other day I've decided though I've been diagnosed with a painful Patella-Femoral Syndrome & the impossible to diagnose after so many Dr.s nasty pain, popping-grinding issue that everyone including doctors freak out of... simply the explanation for my retarded knee is that my kneecap split due to a heavy blow during an intense Soccer Championship (2nd Place) & then ignoring that for so many years caused some liagment or tendon to get sliced thus resulting in this! But I can still dance, run, walk, skip.... well sometimes.

4. My work keeps screwing up paychecks and paying me only for a couple days when they owe me a couple weeks & then getting me my corrected check a whole week later still missing hours because they are just circulating my money in the economy just a tad bit longer & don't worry guys I am boosting the slum-economy.

5. My professor dropped me from my Psych class for being tardy 3/4 classes even though I was injured & crippled on-time just had to limp from the boonies because though I spent most of the 3.5 hrs in class each time he was REALLY just thinking I was gonna drop it myself. Riiiiight!

6. Guys and only guys want to be your best friend not because they want to date you but because they seriously appreciate you & think you're awesome. When they are sick of you not liking them it's only because they are insecure & thus act up as jerks so don't take it personally. As for the girls they are just jealous... that's a load of crap!

7. You miss girl talk, slumber parties, having a group of girls that are your besties but hey having the best mom in the world & sister to talk to about everything from underwear to boys to new recipes to projects & shopping is far better than a group of girls that you'll always love but be interupted by someone's period or gossip drama.

8. that dog crap you ran into the other day..... just be glad you didn't trip over a rock, land your face in it, & have to get stitches plus show up to work the next day with a massive bump on your head.

9. So maybe you're not going to NY because you can't get people together BUT Ryan & Cable wanna travel the world with you & they are awesome guys- start small!

10. You got lost drove all the way to La Cost & back.... well you still had fun.

11. Medical Bills even with insurance= system screwing u over. Daddy & Mommy love me & that's why they share their insurance... look at how much you are really saving.

12. Car issues today... well since it hasn't been confirmed it's your cadillac converter... the good news... there's still time to pray that it will just be a loose pipe.

13. Not getting a Physiology class for Fall & really needing it... mmmmm I reeally don't know.

14. That speeding ticket you got. DUH Mr. policeman gave you the minimum penalty... you were going 14 over

15. Feeling ugly... well that's cuz u are but hey could be worse.. you could look like a guy ;)

16. Jaundice was ugly, sad, scary, & those spontaneous, inexplainable upper abdominal pains yikes but priesthood power, prayer, faith, and pain no more is Hallelujah!

17. Accidently tipping the salon girl $25 which was about half the cost... well Malori is good & she prob needed it.

Childhood Wishes

I was just discussing with my mom as some of you have already heard from me before...
There are 3 things I really wanted as a Child but never got:
1. A Powerwheel
2. A Treehouse
3. Go to Fat Camp

Now you're either thinking gee that's all that you wanted that you didn't get? Pretty much but they were kinda a big deal to me. My mom just said "I don't know why we never got you a powerwheel, we never had a tree big enough for the treehouse, & fat camp? really Sharon... we've gone over this... they'd send you to anorexia camp trying to get you to gain weight"

Watching those movies on Disney channel and such always made fat camp look super fun & I honestly felt like I was left out because I didn't get to go. My young mind was really bummed that my parents refused to send me to one. Sure I'm over it now but I would still like to go to one... how fun would that be. I remember me & Isie planned after HS graduation to set aside a week for our own fat camp as she shared this dream with me. I'm watching the Biggest Loser & the Bulging Bride which is what sparked this remembrance. I feel like Summer will be busy BUT I am totally down for a week of Fat Camp... it's no fun alone. We could camp in backyards, woods, create a daily activity and workout schedule, grocery shop at the beginning, struggle giving up junk food together, water sildes, fieldtrips, obstacle courses... so much fun!!! :D Now who's bold enough to do it?

10 Dates I Want To Go On

1. Baptisms for the Dead @ the San Diego Temple and I cook a fabulous homemade candlelit dinner to eat outdoors somewhere green or by not smelly water, followed by a strawberry dessert cuz I'm craving strawberries right now.
2. Snorkeling and or kayaking in La Jolla, seeing the Sea Lions, a picnic, photos, & walking around forever.
3. A group date to Disneyland dressed as couple Princesses & Princes having the children follow us around for a bit asking for our autographs & just basically having a blast. Then we can go to California Adventure dressed as normal people ;)
4. Mexico..... Tacos, Fresas con Crema, La Bufadora!?!, shopping, walk the beach, a movie. I always have a blast.
5. Watch the sunrise, then go on a picture run just like in 'Yes Man' & I will show him how to make the most delicious breakfast EVER!
6. A basketball or football game.... pro or college... I miss those times. I will eat my delectable pretzel, him a tasty hot dog & afterwards we'll go out for ice cream.
7. Picture scavenger hunt, dress up theme, & later we'll run through the halls of our high school & shout from the top of our lungs... mostly I just have someone awesome in mind for this one ;) I think you'd know who you are... maybe!?!!
8. Flying a kite, riding bikes like little kids, long boarding, and skipping while holding hands.
9. I want to find a Grandees & have a competition eating 'the Zion'.... all 24 scoops of Ice Cream on my own & then tie cherry stems into knots with my tongue (this guy should know who he is... they may have broken my watermelon size heart by closing Cedar's Grandees but oh they have not won yet)
10. I want to pick a random time go to the Airport, pick out a random flight available & fly to that place for a daytrip. A Total Spontaneous Surprise!

San Diego's 1st Annual Vday Pillow Fight

On the evening of Valentine's Day
Sharon, Szandra, Lila, Chris, & Ivan
attended the First Annual Vday Pillow fight in SD!
We all had a blast.
Arriving with our 'hidden' pillows in bags, [some girls cleverly stuffed their tummies with them]
was quite interesting as people could identify each other as there for the action of the event.
The reactions were silly as we got pointed at by two guys waiting, smiling, & laughing with their pillow bags, or noticed others & would point in excitment.
I never heard the whistle sound but a guy ran with his pillow as if a Spartan yelling.
It was crazy! & my poor camera slipped out of my hand but survived the experience.
Photographers lined the borders of the fight trying to capture history as it happened.
I'm sure many of us left with minor headaches & walking around with no longer hidden pillows was not weird at all.
Turns out a Facebook random advertised event to strangers wasn't bad. ;)
p.s. I still laugh about the creepy, partially bald old guy who was there... reminds me of the stereotypical internet pedifiles our parents caution us about.... funny but NOT.

Straight from the FB event invite-
WHY:
All over the world, groups organize free, fun, all ages, non-commercial public events. From a massive Mobile Clubbing event in a London train station to a giant pillow fight near the Eiffel Tower in Paris to a subway party beneath the streets of Toronto, it is clear that the urban playground is growing around the world, a playful part of the larger public space movement.
One of the goals is to make these unique happenings in public space become a significant part of popular culture, partially replacing passive, non-social, branded consumption experiences like watching television, and consciously rejecting the blight on our cities caused by the endless creep of advertising into public space. Even more so in the case of "Hallmark" holidays like that of Valentine's Day.
The goal is to create a global community of participants, not consumers, in a world where people are constantly organizing and attending these happenings in every major city in the world.

ooxxooXoXXx

Today I have come up with a fabulous new idea.
I was thinking of how I am so in love with Valentine's day.
It's cute & always wonderful.
If only everyday was Valentine's day.
So why not make Valentine's last all year?!
I'm doing it.
I will cut out 365 hearts with lovely quotes, scriptures, uplifting words, favors/offers to do for people, & blank ones to add compliments later.
Everyday starting today I will send or leave a heart for someone.
Sometimes in secret, sometimes known...
to family, friends, coworkers, patients, church members, acquaintances, strangers, & cute boys ;) I already know who is getting my first heart
& cannnot wait to start!

People are so nice today: Already I have received many smiles from strangers & 2 friendly faces have let me go ahead of them on the road even though it was their turns. I can feel the love.

Happy Valentine's Day!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! <3

This is absolutely one of my favorite holidays.... no cliche.

Everywhere you see hearts, roses, balloons, chocolates, families, cards, teddy bears, smiles, couples, sweetness, pink & red, and so forth.

I love surprising people & I love coming up with creative, silly, & cute ideas.

Valentine's Day isn't just about the hot date at night. I love to take advantage of the entire day.

I love LOVE.

From heart shaped pancakes covered in sweet strawberries & syrup to that beautiful sunset at night- ENJOY the day!

Since all of my Amazing V-day surprises can't be used now since I'm saving them up for a special someone I have to come up alternative fun & cute things to do.

I'm thinking today is going to be a BLAST! :]

I hope everyone loves the surprises I have for them.

Oh by the way......

I Love to see the Temple

I'm going there someday.
Family tree. I'm so happy I was sealed to my family for time & all eternity in the temple.

Hostess Cupcakes

When I arrived in San Diego I was craving Hostess Cupcakes for some time but decided since I was going to help my sister eat healthy for the baby that I would refrain from buying them otherwise I'd be eating the box all by myself..... no bueno I guess.

They were EVERYWHERE!!!

I went to Vons to pick up Green Apples my sister was craving and some Ice Cream I found on sale that I just couldn't pass up. I saw a teeny pack of 2 cupcakes calling my name......NO. Then the boxes of cupcakes practically yelled at me. I won! The next day there they were at the gas station. The day after that at another store. Finally I surrendered when grocery shopping with my sister- she suggested them since they were on sale & I didn't argue. We bought 2 boxes & hid them in my room. I ate all but 2 from the first box in a few days. I pretty much ate the 2nd box all by myself. Tonight I got mooooooooooooooooore. Rain couldn't stop me.... not at all. :]
i heart Hostess Cupcakes............mmmmmmmm mmmmm good!

Vivian

Compliment:
Vivian is such a sweet girl. I had a fun time playing Phase 10 with her at Volleyball/Activity Night on Thursday as well as at Bishop Chavez's house Friday night. She definitely owns in that game. She is very cute & it's impossible to not smile when she is around. Today we got to share a Giant Joseph Smith church manual in Relief Society. We giggled because it was HUGE & we felt silly staring at ginormous words.
Snaps for Vivian!

Robert Laurentz

Compliment:
Robert is a very cool guy. I'd seen him at FHE before but Friday evening at Bishop Chavez's house we officially met. He is a very neat person to talk to & the conversation is never dull. He's my new friend at church. I love meeting people & making friends. He also texts me quite a bit & we make plans to do things or he invites me along. I love feeling like I'm out of my lonely rut I've managed to get into in Utah. Yay Friends! I also love the way his last name is spelled.
Snaps for Robert

Body Worlds coming to SD!!!

I saw this sign in Balboa Park:

& was just sooooooooooo ExCiTeD
that they are bringing 'Body Worlds'
to San Diego, California.
I went Sr year of HS on a trip to 'The Bodies Exhibition' in Vegas & had a blast.
These cadaver exhibits are AMAZING!
I love studying medicine & this is definitely some great exposure.
The Human Body is no doubt magnificent & miraculous.
It's limited time & opens March 5th-
anyone interested in joining me!?! eh eh...

RAiN

It's raining! :]
I'm happy.
I love the sound of rain falling.
It's so peaceful & pleasant.
I also am excited to sleep in the bed Mahonri just put together for me tonight.
It's TWiN size!!!!!!!!!!!
I like smaller beds.
I came into my room & just smiled because I was so excited.
It's like a kid who just got to rearrange their room.... very fun.
Good Night & Sweet Dreams <3

Because he loves me.

trees

I took these pictures when we let the rattle snake go. They are gloomy but beautiful nonetheless. The trees are amazing how they have grown in the middle of the water.

Baby Registry

Today Jen & I went to Target to scan items for her baby registry. It was an exhausting shopping experience, perhaps because I'm sleepier than usual today, but it was very exciting. Mom helped us remember key things to look for. We found many cute things & I couldn't resist buying his first Rubber Ducky which is a Pirate & adorably silly bodysuits:

"when mommy says no, ask Grandma"
"I'm a cutie, My mom's a babe, And my dad totally rocks"

Optimism!

Half empty or half full? Definitely haf full. Left to Right: Weston, Sharon, Szandra, Simione, Ivan, Valerie

At FHE last night Weston gave a talk on optimism. I would like to point out he did a wonderful job. Great speaker. I have been trying to keep my blog focused on the positive things (refer to post 'From A Princess') & after his talk I am reminded of being not only optimistic in my blog but on a day to day basis in my words, actions, & thoughts. I hope to compliment people more & turn negative attitudes into good. I will be posting compliments to others on my blog as well.

Parking Lot Pictures

Sunday Sweetness

I went to the San Diego Temple after Break the Fast today :]
It was closed for maintenance but I got a close up & it was delightful compared to the distance pics I've been getting. Can't wait to go again.

Make A WiSH

Remember as a child, blowing .&. making wishes on these 'Dandelion weeds'?
I recall doing so in Elementary school and then carrying the stem around with me in my sock.

Or perhaps the tiny blue ones on a bush between our house & the next-door neighbor's that I'd suck on because they tasted like sweet honey.
Or the sour yellow ones across the street at John's House..... we were strange kids.

His BeLOVEed Snake

The white snake I previously posted pics of on my Woman blog has passed away.
I know this blog is supposed to be more about the positive things
but I was very grateful to have finally braved up & hold her before she went.
It was one of Mahonri's most mellow snakes.
Yesterday it reeked when me & Jen got home and we found something nasty-looking in the snakes' house. It was a rat that had been thrown up.It makes me want to vomit so I warn you, but I thought it was crazy neat how it kept the shape of the snake's body.
Mahonri suggested that maybe the rat ate some of the rattle snakes poo-poo & when he became dinner it poisoned the other snake.

Bless Her Heart!

Bye-Bye Rattle Snake

Mahonri caught a Rattle Snake quite awhile back.
He kept it in a glass home in the garage which made going into the garage creepy especially after we found out one of the Rosey Boas escaped we thought how terrible it would be if Mr.Rattle did.

We took him for a little trip to free him back into the wild.
It was difficult finding a place since we didn't want him to be near homes, people, playgrounds, the road, etc.

It didn't take Danny & Mahonri very long to get to the lower level.

However me & Jen took longer esp. being careful so she wouldn't fall with a baby on board. I ran down & tried to convince her it was easy so I ran back up to demonstrate & wow me & my new fear of heights got to me.

He was released into the wild & then Mahonri got a picture at perfect timing with his tongue out.
